Summer Reading

Open a book and get in the game! It's time to finally catch up on that book you've been too busy to read. Godwin Middle School highly encourages all students to participate in the summer reading program. Students may read books from the summer reading lists or ANY other appropriate titles.
Summer Reading Lists

Students who participate and turn in their documentation forms will be eligible to participate in a fall summer reading party! In addition, they will earn one extra-credit "A" in their language arts classes for reading one book or two extra-credit "A's" for reading two books. Students can choose one of the following options to document their summer reading:

Option 1: Submit your summer reading documentation form electronically. Your language arts teacher will have your information before you arrive on the first day of school. You can submit this form before September 9th.
Option 2: Print the PWCS summer reading documentation form, fill it out, and hand it to your language arts teacher by September 9th .
Summer Reading en Español.
Option 3: Print your reading log from the public library's Explore Summer Reading program. . Hand it to your language arts teacher by September 9th.

Students who choose the option of participating in the Prince William Public Library summer reading program should read the number of books designated for their grade level.
Spring Book Fair Is Coming!
The spring Scholastic Book Fair will be in the library from Monday, April 25th through Friday, April 29th. Book Fair hours are: Monday- Thursday 8 AM- 3:30 PM and Friday 8 AM - 12PM. This year's theme is a Groovy Book Fair! Come into the library to buy a book and support the Godwin Library program.
Get Caught Reading Contest
Students and staff who are "caught" reading for pleasure at appropriate times will be given a ticket to be entered in a drawing for gift cards and prizes. Each week will bring new winners. So make sure you have a book to read at all times! You never know if you'll be "caught" reading and become a big winner!
Tournament of Books
March brings us a new tournament--of books! Look at the bulletin board in the main hallway to see the contenders in each bracket. By Friday of each week come into the library to vote for your favorites. We will announce a school winner after spring break. Happy Reading!!
